Mountain Trike partner with Campaign for National Parks - come and join us to mark its 70th anniversary

The Campaign for National Parks is the only national charity dedicated to campaigning to protect, promote and improve accessibility in all of the National Parks of England and Wales.

The Mountain Trike Company are delighted to be supporting this charity who believe in the same core values as us - which is to improve access (and equipment) to try and ensure everyone has access to the great outdoors.

2019 is a special year for the National Parks as it marks 70 years since the 1949 Act of Parliament was passed which established the family of National Parks in England and Wales that we know and love. This was the result of decades of dedicated struggle including mass protests and political lobbying. It means that today the most beautiful countryside in England and Wales has the strongest levels of protection.

As part of the celebration, on Friday 22nd of March, Campaign for National Parks, the Youth Hostel Association and others will be marking this incredible achievement with a special 70th anniversary walk at Castleton in the Peak District - the UK's first National Park. And you’re invited to come along!

The day will start at Castleton where people will be given the opportunity to join the group with a full walk near Mam Tor and Hollins Cross. On the walk there will be an opportunity to update historic photos of campaigners from the 1930s and 1940s. For those unable to join the full walk the other group will follow some of the fantastic guides to the Peak Cavern where CNP have arranged a special tour of the Caves and a demonstration in rope making. This is accessible for all.

Every endeavour is being taken to try and make this walk accessible for all abilities, their aim is for all abilities to be able to participate during the day and the CNP would welcome all to attend.

The event will start at 11am meeting at YHA Castleton for Coffee and briefing.

Full detail of timings, plans for the day and how to get there can be viewed or downloaded on the below file:
