Lenny has quickly mastered the steering, the different speed settings, and the horn. Seeing him with this newfound independence and eagerness to explore has been amazing. It's also been a surprise to find him suddenly not needing us to help him and to simply enjoy the walks ourselves instead of worry about accessibility or needing to push/lift him in places!
He got to play chase and go across terrain that we wouldn't usually be able to, which is pretty special in itself. It's these kinds of moments that we don't take for granted, holding his hand while he drives himself along or racing Monty.
We've explored several Miles without Stiles walks in the Lakes - rocks, mud, puddles, and steep climbs, Lenny has been in his element!
He said he felt as though he was in the sky and free at the top of Orrest Head. What a feeling that must be!
You'll find us running after a red wheelchair, on some crazy terrain, chasing the feeling of freedom for the foreseeable.
We spent a year fundraising for the electric trike wheelchair and the joy it is already bringing is just amazing and better than our expectations - thank you to all who helped make this happen and for creating such an amazing wheelchair.
