CEAT shares jumped over 9% to hit a record high of Rs 3,377.60 on the BSE on Monday after it announced the acquisition of business assets from Camso, a brand that manufactures high-margin off-highway bias tyres and tracks for compact construction equipment, from Michelin in a $225 million deal. The acquisition enhances CEAT's offerings in the profitable off-highway tire sector, including tyres and tracks for agriculture, harvesters, and material-handling equipment. The transaction will include the business with revenues of around $213 million for CY 2023, global ownership of the Camso brand, and two state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. Emkay Global said the transaction could potentially result in a 6% EPS accretion on a pro forma basis in FY26 at reasonable valuations. The brokerage has set a target price of Rs 3,650. "Acquisition of a global brand, distribution, and cost-competitive manufacturing at reasonable valuations are positives, and complement organic efforts already undertaken in areas like capacity expansion and product development in our view," Emkay said. However, given the deal size, it is likely to increase leverage (0.45x D/E and 1.2x D/EBITDA as of September 2024 end), particularly amid a moderate demand cycle in most segments. Domestic brokerage firm IIFL raised its target price to Rs 4,000, describing the acquisition as a "good strategic fit" and predicting a 7-8% earnings per share increase by FY26. Axis Capital maintained a 'buy' rating on the stock with a target price of Rs 3,450, stating, "The acquisition, executed at approximately a 1x price-to-sales multiple, seems reasonably priced." The Healthcare Facilities Management Market: Trends, Size, Share, Growth, and Demand by 2031WEST PALM BEACH, Florida, - President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday sided with key supporter and billionaire tech CEO Elon Musk in a public dispute over the use of the H-1B visa , saying he fully backs the program for foreign tech workers opposed by some of his supporters. Trump's remarks followed a series of social media posts from Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, who vowed late Friday to go to "war" to defend the visa program for foreign tech workers. Trump, who moved to limit the visas' use during his first presidency, told The New York Post on Saturday he was likewise in favor of the visa program. "I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I've been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It's a great program," he was quoted as saying. Context: Elon Musk vows 'war' over H-1B visa program amid rift with some Trump supporters Musk, a naturalized U.S. citizen born in South Africa, has held an H-1B visa, and his electric-car company Tesla obtained 724 of the visas this year. H-1B visas are typically for three-year periods, though holders can extend them or apply for green cards. The altercation was set off earlier this week by far-right activists who criticized Trump's selection of Sriram Krishnan, an Indian American venture capitalist, to be an adviser on artificial intelligence, saying he would have influence on the Trump administration's immigration policies. Musk's tweet was directed at Trump's supporters and immigration hard-liners who have increasingly pushed for the H-1B visa program to be scrapped amid a heated debate over immigration and the place of skilled immigrants and foreign workers brought into the country on work visas. On Friday, Steve Bannon, a longtime Trump confidante, critiqued "big tech oligarchs" for supporting the H-1B program and cast immigration as a threat to Western civilization. In response, Musk and many other tech billionaires drew a line between what they view as legal immigration and illegal immigration. Trump has promised to deport all immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally, deploy tariffs to help create more jobs for American citizens and severely restrict immigration. The visa issue highlights how tech leaders like Musk ‒ who has taken an important role in the presidential transition, advising on key personnel and policy areas ‒ are now drawing scrutiny from his base. The U.S. tech industry relies on the government's H-1B visa program to hire foreign skilled workers to help run its companies, a labor force that critics say undercuts wages for American citizens. Musk has spent more than a quarter of a billion dollars helping Trump get elected in November. He has posted regularly this week about the lack of homegrown talent to fill all the needed positions within American tech companies. Wade Taylor IV racked up 19 points that included eight in the final 3:22 of the game as No. 22 Texas A&M outlasted Texas Tech 72-67 on Sunday afternoon in the USLBM Coast-to-Coast Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. Texas A&M (8-2) led by as many as 11 points in the first half and by three at halftime before the Red Raiders surged to the front early in the second half. Down 52-49, the Aggies produced an 11-0 surge capped by a jumper by Zhuric Phelps to take a 60-52 advantage with 5:02 to play The Aggies' margin was just two points when Taylor went hard to the hole on back-to-back possessions for layups that pushed the lead to 64-58. A 3-pointer by Tech's Chance McMillian cut lead to three but Taylor, Henry Coleman III and Solomon Washington converted free throws over the final 27 seconds to provide the deciding points for A&M. Jace Carter added 16 points and Phelps had 12 for the Aggies, who have won four straight games. McMillian's 23 points were a game high, while Kevin Overton added 17 and Darrion Williams had 11 for Texas Tech (7-2), which had a three-game winning streak snapped. The Aggies ruled the game's first five minutes, blitzing to a 13-2 lead thanks to eight early points from Taylor and a stifling defense that forced Tech into four turnovers. The Red Raiders responded with an 8-2 run capped by a jumper by Federiko Federiko to close the gap to five points at the 10:57 mark. Texas Tech continued to battle back, clawing to within 26-24 with 5:16 left in the first half thanks to a 9-0 run. Texas A&M boosted the margin to as many as six points after Manny Obaseki hit a layup with 2:23 remaining before McMillian canned a pair of free throws with 41 seconds to play to pull to within 34-31 at the break. Overton led all scorers with 14 points before halftime while Carter paced the Aggies with 13. The Red Raiders pulled even on Federiko's jumper 46 seconds into the second half, went in front on a jumper by Elijah Hawkins with 18:22 to play and pushed their advantage to five points on another Hawkins jumper at the 16:30 mark of the half. The Aggies swung back, tying the contest at 49 when Washington sank a 3-pointer with 10:48 left, setting the stage for the furious finish. --Field Level MediaTaylor Swift's Eras Tour is ending. Article content As 2024 fades into the history books, now’s a good time to take stock of our government so we can look forward to a new year that brings change and stability. The dying days of the old year brought chaos to Parliament Hill, caused by the resignation of Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland and procedural wrangling over the government’s refusal to hand over documents related to a green slush fund. Sustainable Development Technology Canada was supposed to help innovative environmental companies. About $400 million was handed out in questionable grants and when MPs asked to see documentation for who received the money, the Liberals balked. House Speaker Greg Fergus has said no other business can proceed until the Liberals produce the documents, so Parliament has ground to a halt. This shows a shocking disregard for parliamentary privilege; MPs have the right to ask for and get vital documents such as this. It shows an unmitigated arrogance on the part of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that he won’t cough them up. It is, however, consistent with Trudeau’s track record. He shows disdain for Opposition politicians and the people they represent. Those who cross him — be it his former attorney-general Jody Wilson-Raybould or Freeland — are summarily fired. In Freeland’s case, her resignation letter threw the government into even more turmoil. Trudeau has stumbled from one scandal to another — yet he hangs tough. In 2017, then-ethics commissioner Mary Dawson found he’d breached the rules in connection to a 2016 vacation trip to the Aga Khan’s private island. In 2020, his government was probed over almost $1 billion in controversial contracts to family friends in the WE charity. The ethics commissioner ruled Trudeau hadn’t breached conflict of interest rules, but his then-finance minister, Bill Morneau, had put himself in a position of conflict of interest. Morneau later quit politics. RECOMMENDED VIDEO Then there’s ArriveCAN, where about $54 million was spent on an app that should have cost a fraction of that and which only 4% of travellers now use. After each gaffe, Trudeau says he’ll do better. He doesn’t. He rolls along to the next embarrassing gaffe. We’re told he’s contemplating his future over the holidays. He shouldn’t have to. His party should give him the boot before he can do more damage.

PHILADELPHIA -- Saquon Barkley knew the Eagles season rushing record could be his on Sunday with the type of stellar performance that has become the standard during his first season in Philadelphia. As for the exact moment Barkley hit the milestone, he wasn't sure — until the “MVP!” chants echoed throughout the Linc after a 9-yard run in the fourth quarter . “The records are great, they put a smile on your face,” Barkley said, “but the season is far from over.” Needing 109 yards to break LeSean McCoy's record, Barkley rushed for 124 yards and pushed his season total to 1,623 in a 22-16 victory over Carolina . Barkley needed just 13 games to pass McCoy, who rushed for 1,607 yards in 2013. He also overtook Wilbert Montgomery, who had 1,512 yards in 1978. “I never wrote the goal down to break it,” Barkley said. “You're always aware of it. That's how I train. That's how I operate in the offseason. I want to be great.” Barkley also maintained his pace to break Eric Dickerson’s NFL single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards, set in 1984 with the Los Angeles Rams. “That would be extremely cool to do,” Barkley said. “If it happens, it happens, and not with the mindset of, I'm scared to go try to do it. Whatever it takes to win football games.” Barkley is averaging 124.8 yards per game. At that pace and with one more game to play than Dickerson, he would become the top single-season rusher in NFL history. He needs 483 yards yards over the final four games to top Dickerson’s 40-year-old record. He averaged 6.2 yards on 20 carries against the Panthers to help the Eagles win their ninth straight game. McCoy, who was inducted into the team's Hall of Fame this season, remains the franchise’s rushing leader with 6,792 yards. Referencing his old uniform number, McCoy congratulated Barkley on social media with “a lot of love, coming from 2-5." “Being a fan of Shady's growing up, and seeing the spectacular things he was able to do with the ball in his hand, to be able to have my name mentioned with him definitely means a lot,” Barkley said. Barkley left the New York Giants in the offseason and signed a three-year deal worth $26 million guaranteed to join the Eagles, who made him the highest-paid running back in franchise history. The 27-year-old has been worth every dollar. Barkley is among the favorites for league MVP, according to BetMGM Sportsbook. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was the only player with better MVP odds entering Sunday. Barkley has a franchise-record nine 100-yard rushing games in a season. Although he was held out of the end zone Sunday, he began the day leading the league with four rushing touchdowns of 25-plus yards. Barkley, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft, topped 1,000 yards three times in his six seasons with the Giants. He finished with 1,312 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in 2022 and rushed for 1,307 yards and 11 scores as a rookie. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman, who had been unwilling to spend on elite running backs, pounced on Barkley and the decision was celebrated as a success in Philly from the first game of the season. Barkley rushed for two scores and caught a TD pass in the opener against Green Bay. His three touchdowns were the most by an Eagles player in his debut since Terrell Owens in 2004. Barkley only soared in production and popularity from there, his highlight reel stamped by a reverse leap over the head of a Jacksonville defender last month. He's since vaulted over every running back ahead of him on the Eagles rushing list — and has a chance at NFL history. ___ AP NFL: https://apnews.com/NFL
